The Student Ministries and Outreach office seeks to strengthen the relationships between the school, families, and churches which make up the local community. Attention is focused on three important areas: the spiritual development of students, the support and strengthening of school parents, and strengthening our interconnectedness with local churches.
The spiritual development of our students is our primary objective. One of the hallmarks of DC is the long-standing tradition of teachers taking an active role outside the classroom in the spiritual development of students. The Student Ministries and Outreach office will be created to intentionally focus on the spiritual growth of students and to further equip faculty to accomplish this mission. Student Ministries and Outreach will provide vision, direction, consistency, education, and resources to further equip faculty and staff in the spiritual development of our students. The office will also provide students with opportunities - in cooperation with local churches - to use their gifts and talents in service to the Lord.
Another major component of the Office of Spiritual Development will include seeking to strengthen connections between DC and local churches. This partnership could include working together to foster students and/or parent seminars, sharing facilities to host events, working together to foster local community events, and partnering together in ministry to our students.
The third component is strengthening and supporting the parents who make up the DC community. DC is only as strong as the parents who make up the society. We want to encourage and equip our parents to be Revolutionary Parents … parents who take God’s words on life and family at face value and to apply them faithfully and consistently. Parenting is based on one’s faith in God and makes parenting a life priority. |
